Maple Grove Minnesota has grown at a rapid pace since the 1970s and has grown into one of the most populated cities in the Twin Cities area and identified as one of the fastest growing cities in the state of Minnesota.  Arbor Lakes is home to more retail than virtually any city in the state, second only to Bloomington MN and the Mall of America. Maple Grove itself is likely to have nearly 6 million square feet of commercial development and retail space when the build-out is finished, which may soon push the city into the number one spot for total retail square-footage. The central project was designed to encourage a small-town and pedestrian-friendly atmosphere within the larger scale of the development.

The first phase included Main Street, a collection of one and two-story buildings with small town main street storefronts. The second phase was generally considered to be the Shoppes of Arbor Lakes and the third phase was the Fountains at Arbor Lakes. Residents love the Arbor Lakes area, Minnesota’s first lifestyle center, The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes includes stores such as the Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, GoodThings, National Camera Exchange, Hot Mama, Teavana, Antropologie, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Maple Grove’s public schools are part of the Osseo Area School District 279 which also serves the following areas: Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Hassan and Plymouth. The superintendent is Susan K. Hintz. The public education system in Maple Grove is rated highly, with Maple Grove Junior High and Maple Grove Senior High ranking consistently at the top of state-wide testing. A Maple Grove has several Elementary Schools – including Elm Creek, Fernbrook, Rice Lake, Rush Lake and Weaver lake a Science, Math and Technology School just to name a few. Interestingly a portion of the southwest Maple Grove is also served by the Wayzata School District.
